1559 in 2005
From FIRSTwiki
2005 was team 1559's first season as an FRC team. The brainchild of Peter Fleckenstein, a technology teacher from Victor High School in Victor, New York, team 1559 Devil-Tech began its life in December of 2004, not knowing what to expect of FIRST. After the kick-off on January 22, 2005, Devil-Tech began work on the Shadow Claw (which, ironically, had its name before building even started) with no building experience and very little money. Within five weeks, the team had managed to build and perfect a robot ready for the Finger Lakes Regional at RIT that would live up to the Shadow Claw name. With a week of driving experience under their belts, the team packed up for RIT and gave it their all in the first ever FLR, and did surprisingly well. At the end of the weekend, Devil-Tech went home with the General Motors Industrial Design Award, and the Highest Rookie Seed Award, and an incredible FIRST experience.
