Open European Championship
This is event will be run for the first time in May of 2006. It is a special tournament to culminate the FLL season similar to the FLL World Festival. This first year world event is being run as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Eindhoven University of Technology. It is unclear at this time if this will be an ongoing event in the future.
Qualification
Teams from one of the 11 European FLL finals will be invited to the event. The scheme varies from one final to the other. For example in some cases 1 team will be invited, in other cases 3, in others 6. The first place teams will be invited first, after that any award winning team may apply.
In addition to the above, teams from countries outside of Europe will be allowed to invite 2 teams each. Special rules will govern how the teams from the United States and Canada are selected.
