The LEGO Mindstorms NXT has been available to consumers in Fall of 2006. The release of NXT greatly impacted the FLL competition.

Specifications
- 32 bit processor
- 4 output, 3 input (connectors similar to RJ11)
- New Servo motors will have built in rotation sensor
- New sensors include proximity sensor, sound sensor, and improved light sensor
- "iPod" style appearance
- Parts based on Technic (studless lego) lines
- Brand new proramming language produced by National Instruments based on Labview. Compatible with OS X and Windows XP.
- Bluetooth compatible
