So, anyone have any major objections if I combine the two topics into one? See my reasoning below. --Sciencewhiz 11:43, 20 Jul 2004 (EDT)

but won't there be stuff on alliances in general? --Max

These pages, unlike Robot controller, are two completely different concepts. As in, the "tournament alliance" is the 3-team selected partnership, while "match alliance" talks about partnership in an individual game. --SilverStar 22:35, 28 May 2004 (EDT)
No they aren't completely different, they are fundamentally the same (a number of robots working together to play the game). The manner in which they are put together, and the rules about who plays are different, but those aren't the fundamental issue. I think this page should introduce what an alliance is in general, then give specifics about the two types, and then give the history of alliances. If someone new to FIRST were to read the page about tournament alliance, and then went asked a FIRST member how their tournament alliance did, it might take a while to figure out what they were asking, because tournament alliance isn't a standard term (match alliance is a little more clear). The term is alliance, and the context defines which you are talking about, and so that should be explained, but it shouldn't be split into two arbitrary topics. --Sciencewhiz 10:50, 18 Jun 2004 (EDT)
