Talk:Index of teams by home regional

From FIRSTwiki

Jump to: navigation, search

This page was created based on the information previosly on the Index of teams by region page. It was moved here to give the information a more appropriate artical name and to create an actual index of teams by region. Please contribute to both articals if you can. Organizing by "Region" not "Regional"

Perhaps it would be beneficial to organize teams by States and Country instead of regional. It would be a much more defininte and reliable and would make it a lot more easy to establish the locations of teams. If there are no objections (and considering the lack of any activity around here, I'm anticipating there won't be) I will begin to convert the page. It might even be a good idea to just move this page to an "Index of teams by regional" and start this one over. Cbale2000 11:44, 17 October 2007 (EDT)

You might try to look at an interactive map provided by FIRST to extrapolate the needed data. (It's a job for someone who feels particularly industrious, sure ... but it's a good idea to get all the links on the home page at least pointing to something worthwhile.)

What's a team's "home regional"? This may be clear-cut in some cases, but not in many others. for instance, we in 1168 competed at the Chesapeake Regional in 2003 and will again in 2005, and at the Pittsburgh Regional in 2004. However, we are geographically closest to the Philadelphia Regional, despite having never competed there. --Goobergunch 11:08, 1 June 2004 (EDT)

I realized this might be a problem, but i couldn't think of an explanation for "home". I each problem will have to be dealt with seperately. It's up to the team. --Max 11:45, 1 Jun 2004 (EDT)
Perhaps using regionals attended to determine the "region" of a team is not the best thing to do. Perhaps maybe create regions by grouping some states together and using the team's location? If someone could define the regions I can add all the teams into their regions. --Piotrm 17:00, 1 Jun 2004 (EDT)
Hmmm... New England, Midwest, Great Plains, Southern Atlantic (Need name), Rocky Mts, Pacific. --Astronouth7303 17:05, 1 Jun 2004 (EDT)
I considered that, but I thought it reduces the functionality of the page. I think teams assosciate more by the regionals they attend than by their actual locations. --Max 18:30, 14 Jun 2004 (EDT)

So, this raises a question -- Team 506 apparently didn't compete in 2004, but they did exist previously, obviously. Shouldn't there be something in place to recognize past teams? I think they should still be recognized for their participation and accomplishments somewhere. -- Maddie

Anyone can create a new page. Just go to firstwiki.org/index.php/506 and start editing. It might be good to note they weren't active in 2004, but like you said, they should still have an entry, if someone desires to write one. --Sciencewhiz 18:19, 14 Jun 2004 (EDT)

How is this page organised, it doesn't seem to be in alphabetical order or anything... -- JVGazeley 15:51, 22 Jun 2005 (BST)

By the state. Just click the state and it will take you there-Denman

Yeah, but the states aren't in any particular order by the looks of it, they certainly aren't alphabetical... -- JVGazeley 11:52, 28 Jun 2005 (BST)

I think it would be better to group by US State or Canadian Province, or just by country if not US/Canada. Tckma 23:23, 5 March 2006 (EST)
