I want to delete this, following our no sponsor page policy. However, that policy was put into place because there'd be a promotional page with a logo for a group that gives $1000 to one team and that's it. (Multiply that out by 2000 teams.) This page is a little richer than that. Suggestions? --Astronouth7303 02:10, 6 July 2007 (EDT)
- If you delete RIT, then you'd also have to delete NASA, DEKA, IFI, and Xerox, as well as any other ones I've missed. Maybe it's time to review the no sponsor page policy (maybe we could start a debate here)? I could come up with quite a few reasons why we WOULD like to have pages for sponsors who give "$1000 to one team and that's it." 12:24, 6 July 2007 (EDT)Nlaverdure
- No, we wouldn't. RIT is a sponsor of a few teams (3 FTA). NASA, DEKA, IFI, and Xerox are all sponsors of FIRST itself, 3 of which are listed as founding sponsors, in addition to sponsors of teams. IFI is also a supplier of core components. NASA sponsors several hundred teams through its grants and is the largest sponsor of teams.
- If every team were to create stubs on each of their sponsors and upload a logo (about 5~8 pages per team), it would create a lot of extra noise (about 11000~17600 stubs and logos). This kind of behavior is why we don't do team sponsor pages.
- The number of watching users here is very slim. We don't have the manpower to try to wade through that many articles. (We don't even have the man power to keep the
- Each team also has their own place to praise their sponsors--their website. (And if they don't have a website, that's unfortunate. We are not a host.) Our resources are donated by ChiefDelphi, let us not abuse them.
- The reason I ask about this article is because while it does not fit the "stub+logo" mold, RIT is still a fairly small sponsor in the big scheme of FIRST, from what the article tells me. Fix the article to more readily describe RIT's impact on FIRST. --Astronouth7303 16:45, 6 July 2007 (EDT)
- Ok, then can we at least document the policy somewhere on this site (again, maybe here?) so that newbies like me can understand? Or is it already documented somewhere? --Nlaverdure 16:23, 7 July 2007 (EDT)
- Personally, I think only Major FIRST Sponsors should be given articles. Like a "If it ain't on the Sponsor Banner (like the ones near the screens at regionals), it doesn't get an article". I will agree that if teams start adding articles about all their sponsors we'd have a mess (nobody wants to see an article about "Bobs Gas station" anyways). Major FIRST sponsors like NASA do merit their own articles as they can play a key role in the way FIRST operates (just think what would happen if FIRST lost IFI, no one would know what to do). Anyways, thats my 2 cents. Cbale2000 00:28, 10 July 2007 (EDT)
